Herd Health
Herd health is of upmost importance here. We have a very strict protocol in regards to biosecurity. Any new goats that are added to our herd are kept in quarantine. They remain in quarantine until they have passed a full bioscreen that is pulled via blood samples. We screen for CL, CAE, and Johne's. They remain in quarantine for about 30 days to watch for any other health problems before introducing into our herd.
We choose to vaccinate our entire herd. We vaccinate for CD&T and CL. Doelings and bucklings receive an intial vaccination followed by a booster. The entire herd is revaccinated once annually.
We believe being proactive in preventing sickness by bioscreening, vaccinating, keeping clean facilities, fresh water and minerals available at all times are key to having a healthy herd. As breeders, we have a responsibility to breed healthy, quality stock that will be an asset to your program.
